Is Jupiter our future home? The "Juice" satellite is due to arrive at the largest planet in our solar system in eight years' time – on a mission to search for life. Kongsberg Gruppen has assisted ESA (European Space Agency) with several components to make the journey possible.

Did you know that the Norwegian air defence system NASAMS, partially developed by Kongsberg Gruppen, has saved many lives in Ukraine? NASAMS is a modular, mobile, and network-based system, and is used by twelve nations including Spain, the USA, the Netherlands, Finland, Australia, Indonesia, and Ukraine. The defence system had its baptism of fire in Ukraine, and both the Ukrainian defence forces and Ukraine's President Volodomyr Zelensky have lauded NASAMS both in reports, from the podium, and in video recordings.

If we are to reach climate goals and keep the increase in temperature down, preserving the rainforest is a crucial part of the solution. Satellites from Kongsberg Gruppen have revolutionised the global efforts in rainforest conservation. Regularly updated images of rainforest from all over the world, provide unique insight into what’s happening in the tropical countries. By examining the images, it’s possible to calculate how much forest has been cut down, and also expose illegal logging.

We are depleting the ocean of fish, and it has reached its breaking point. In the fight against illegal fishing, satellite data from Kongsberg Gruppen provides crucial information about vessels at sea. Boats engaged in illegal fishing may attempt to conceal or manipulate their position, but they cannot hide from the radar images captured by the satellites. To preserve the world's most important food source, we must reduce overfishing and fight illegal fishing. That's why satellite data from Kongsberg Gruppen is a vital tool in the pursuit of sustainable fishing.

The world's first fully electric, autonomous container ship is called YARA Birkeland, and will operate between Yara's fertilizer factory in Porsgrunn and the port of Brevik. It will replace 40,000 trips of diesel-powered truck transport each year, shifting transportation from road to sea to also reduce noise and dust emissions. Kongsberg Gruppen is responsible for the development and delivery of all key technologies on the container ship, which marks a significant contribution to achieving national and international environmental goals.

The Oslo Fjord is not in good shape. Several species of fish are disappearing, and important areas with kelp forests and eelgrass have declined in recent years. Researchers are observing increased algal blooms, sedimentation, and more zones of dead water. Through the Frisk Oslofjord project, Kongsberg has tested groundbreaking marine technology in the Oslo fjord with the goal of ensuring a healthy fjord, rich in outdoor activities and nature experiences, for future generations.
